Tasting - Chateau Ste. Michelle Rose

Image
Name: Chateau Ste. Michelle Rose Variety: Rose Region: Columbia Valley  Country: United States Year: 2022 Price: $16 Winery Review: " This beautiful, blush-hued Chateau Ste. Michelle Sparkling Rosé with delicate flavors of strawberries, sweet orange and berry jam is the perfect combination of crisp acidity and lovely fine bubbles that pairs with almost everything. Enjoy! " Wine Folly: Light-bodied rosé that offers bright aromas of watermelon, raspberry, lemon followed with strawberry and citrus zest.  Perfect pairing with light pasta and rice dishes, grilled fish and a wide array of cheese. My Review: Overall, I believe roses are a great wine to enjoy because they are the bridge between whites and reds and this was no exception. The light zesty flavors as well as the raspberry and strawberry flavors were at the fore front of this wines taste and its smell was similar but also brought in hints of more citrus then light fruity flavors. Over all I enjoyed this wine and in t...

Wine and Cheese Pairing Report

WINES: Planeta Red Blend 2019 H3 Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 Yellow Tail Chardonnay 2023 Cheese: Provolone: The Provolone had a much more gassy taste as it is the most evident tasting of the three cheeses we had in these pairings. It was definitely more overpowering than the other two and I think that this will definitely play a large role in how the pairings with it end up going depending on each wine. Aged Cheddar: The aged cheddar contained lots of backings of spice almost, due to its age compared to the other cheese and reminded me of the cheddar cheese doodles snack. This cheese was able to be much more hit or miss with people due to its very outgoing flavors. Fontina:  Tasting the fontina cheese it was very light and had hints of cheddar but nothing enough that overpower the palate, a much more softer flavor of cheddar. This one will be interesting to see if theres more slighter changes to the taste of the wine as it has the softest flavors. Thoughts! Planeta Red Blend 2019...

Tasting - Decoy Sauvignon Blanc

Image
Name: Decoy Sauvignon Blanc  Variety: Sauvignon Blanc Region: Napa Valley California Country: United States Year: 2022 Price: $20 Winery Review: " Duckhorn Vineyards has been crafting Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc since 1982. Expanding on this winemaking tradition, Decoy California Sauvignon Blanc allows our winemaking team the opportunity to explore a different expression of this great grape from other recognized California appellations. . " Wine Folly: This bright and lively Sauvignon Blanc draws you in with tantalizing aromas of gooseberry, passionfruit, sweet lime, and hints of mango. On the palate, it is refreshing and well-rounded with lovely minerality supporting the citrus and tropical fruit flavors as they glide to a long, crisp finish. My Review: As I continue delving deeper into white wines I have begin to enjoy more of the sauvignon blanc side of things. This wine did not disappoint as it contained an array of fruity flavors and a nice body that wasn't too light...

WINES: Bogle Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 Debonair Sauvignon Blanc 2021 Gnarly Head Old World Vine Zinfandel 2021 MENU: Medium rare sirloin steak Roasted potatoes  Roasted asparagus Thoughts! Bogle Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2020:  Solo Tasting: Prior to eating we drank a glass and I was able to taste a lot of those strong fruity flavors coming out, however they were not overly sweet and tasted of berry that was pleasant and light enough to not over power my taste buds. The smell matched this as I was noticing hints of cherries and red berries when taking a whiff of the glass. Paring notes: After eating some the steak we paired with the wine I was able to taste more of the bolder body flavors of the wine and less of the fruity side as previously mentioned. The steak complemented the full body of the wine bringing some of the deeper flavors of the grape and some more acidity into the mix of taste. After indulging in some of the roasted potatoes and then tak...

Tasting - Cabernet Sauvignon

Image
Name: Bar Dog Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon Region: California Country: United States Year: 2021 Price: $9 Winery Review: " Proving once again that opposites do attract, Bar Dog Cabernet Sauvignon is polished and silky in texture. Beautiful blueberry aromas combine with ripe plum and cocoa flavors, mingling throughout the long, expressive finish. " Wine Folly: The world’s most popular red wine grape is a natural cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc from Bordeaux, France. Cabernet Sauvignon is loved for its high concentration and age worthiness. My Review: This one was a first for me being that I don't normally drink red wines but as I'm trying to expand my palate thus what prompted the decision, not to mention I liked I liked the dog on the label. While drinking this I noticed that the body is much more full than the previous whites I drank. While drinking this I collected tastes of oddly enough slightly chocolaty or cocoa. There was also some deeper fruit ...
