Tasting - Alsace crustaces dopff & irion 2021

Weekly Wine Tasting

  • The wine I tasted today was Alsace crustaces dopff & irion 2021 a pinot Blanc which cost 11$ originating from Alsace France.
  • I couldn't find the rating for the 2021 bottle however the 2018 bottle was rated a 91 with notes of pear and vanilla. https://www.wineenthusiast.com/buying-guide/dopff-irion-2018-crustaces-white-alsace-white-blend/?queryID=58f98a987b890514d9620ab6d1ccd31a&objectID=wine#383437&indexName=PROD_WINEENTHUSIAST_REVIEWS
  • "This smooth, rippling wine is restrained in its fruit, but pear is definitely present, alongside notes of mild Gruyere and lime zest. Acidity that is bright but not searing makes for a clean break, with a medium-length finish. The wine is clean, pretty and eminently drinkable." — Layla Schlack

  • When tasting the wine I first smelled light aromas of apple as well as something that I could not put my thumb on but was reminded of the shrimp scampi my mom used to make. After tasting I had similar notes and enjoyed how the wine wasn't very buttery and had light hints of fruits that didn't over power each other and melded well together.
