Winery Review: "Our Sauvignon Blanc is a vibrant, crisp wine that comes from vineyards in the South Island of New Zealand, where the cool growing season allows our grapes to mature slowly and gain character and complexity. Flavors of Meyer lemon, white nectarine and key lime integrate with subtle hints of grapefruit, gooseberry and citrus, culminating into a long, balanced finish. Pair oysters on the half shell, creamy lobster risotto or a picnic in the park."
Wine Folly: In pages 165 and 166, which reference Sauvignon Blanc and varieties that are grown in New Zealand, I found that the discusses flavors of typical Sauvignon Blancs can be found in this wine, specifically grapefruit. However, I could not pick up on some of the more common regional notes.
My Review: I thought that this wine had a much flatter taste than other whites I have tried. There were hints of fruitiness, but I felt that I had to work harder to try to find them. It was harder to pick out more specific notes. I'm not sure if I would try this specific wine again, but would be open to trying another type of Sauvignon Blanc to see if it was this wine or the variety in general that I am not a fan of.
