Introduction Post



Hello, my name is Patrick Devery I am a senior at Virginia Tech and am creating this blog to document my experience in wine as I continue to gain more knowledge about the world of wine and open my mind to the many types of wines and everything that comes with them!

- I haven't versed myself to deep into the culture of wine as a college student thus far its normally been cheap wine boxes. However, I would love to learn more about the background of wines and the process of making wine as well as its millions of taste combinations. 

-At the moment I have normally stuck to lighter wines like whites and Rose but as the class continues I hope to get a taste for darker reds and merlots in order to broaden my taste buds. In doing so I will also learn more about the topic in general through the class and through tastings with friends and visits to the wine lab I am very excited to jump into the culture of wine!

tasting- sauvignon blanc

Flavors of Meyer lemon, white nectarine and key lime integrate with subtle hints of grapefruit, gooseberry and citrus, culminating into a long, balanced finish. Wine Folly: In pages 165 and 166, which reference Sauvignon Blanc and varieties that are grown in New Zealand, I found that the discusses flavors of typical  Sauvignon Blancs can be found in this wine, specifically grapefruit.
